Dr Maris Eastgate BVMS (Hons), BSc (Veterinary Biology)
Dr Maris grew up in Brisbane surrounded by horses, dogs and cats. She studied at Murdoch University, attaining a Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Biology) in 1994 and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (1st class merit honours) in 1996. She settled in Redcliffe in 2000 and took over Scarborough Veterinary Surgery in 2003.
Dr Maris loves all aspects of being a vet, but especially enjoys working with clients and their animals.
Dr Julia Chou BVSc (Hons)
Dr Julia was born in Taiwan and moved to Australia for her high school studies. She has always been passionate about animals and aspired to become a veterinarian since she was 7 years old.
Dr Julia completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours in 2015. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery with a special interest in small animal surgery and small animal dentistry, and hopes to develop her interests in veterinary acupuncture in the future.
Dr Julia is a fluent speaker of both Mandarin and English.
In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr Julia’s interests include walking her dog at the beach, drawing and computers.
Senior Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)
The loud livewire of the clinic, Vet Nurse Jessica brings her sunny bubbly personality and enthusiasm to work every day. Starting as a junior nurse in 2012 with Scarborough Vet Surgery, Jess has worked diligently and with dedication and is now our senior nurse.
VN Jessica completed her Certificate III in Veterinary Nursing in 2010 and her Certificate IV in 2015 and is currently working towards her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.
VN Jessica has undergone extra training in X-ray procedures and small animal dentistry. She enjoys all aspects of Vet Nursing and caring for your pets and is especially happy when working with people and their furry little companions.
VN Jessica has an obsession with all things Disney and with rabbits! 🐰 She hopes that one day Queensland will change their laws and allow rabbits in the state. She has 3 spoiled Maltese x Shih Tzus and 2 cats that keep her busy at home.
Vet Nurse Bec has lived on the peninsula most of her life and is a Redcliffe girl through and through. Her affinity with animals was evident from a very young age and she always aspired to be a veterinary nurse.
In her teenage years, VN Bec spent her weekends volunteering in the cattery at Peninsula Animal Aid and undertook work placement at Scarborough Veterinary Surgery. VN Bec found the work to be both challenging and rewarding, she was confident she had found what she wanted to do in life.
After taking a break to have her family, Bec reignited her passion and commenced her nursing studies, returning to Scarborough Vet Surgery as a trainee and then a fully-fledged Veterinary Nurse.
VN Bec is a dedicated nurse and enjoys surgical nursing, working with her local community and their furkids. She has a very peaceful and gentle way about her when caring for your pets.
Another bubbly and sunny personality to meet you when you come in, VN Brooke has always had a strong passion for animals and learning since a very young age.
VN Brooke has developed additional skills and experience in professional dog and cat grooming. She also runs our weekly puppy preschool. This year she will be undertaking additional training in small animal dentistry and X-ray procedures.
When not at work, you will find VN Brooke tending to her variety of animals, including her 3 goats, 2 dogs and 1 cat, as well as her chickens and ducks.
